I can almost feel the friendly atmosphere you've described. It's really nice that even nowadays in this busy and noisy world we find some time to spend in pieceful and relaxing atmosphere with friendly people around.

Delhi is a place you either love or hate and it really depends on your frame of mind before you go. It is very very busy and if you are a westerner you will probably be harassed into doing or buying things you don’t want but it is worth it to just to see this incredible city.

Once you have got used to the chaos it can become quite enjoyable and is, after all, just a gateway to other locations in India which could not be more different. When you are chilling out on the beach in Goa the hustle and bustle of Delhi will be just a distant memory.

This sounds like it must have been such a inspired experience to be involved in. Asia is truly a magical place to visit. It's wonderful that you got to do Tibet, as that really is a beautiful place, steeped in culture and history. It opens your eyes to another world. Goodluck in your future buying expeditions.

With a population of a billion and growing, Indian children, especially those growing up on the streets of India encounter a bleak future. Fortunately it seems they cared less about future and live in the moment actually getting to enjoy the innocence of youth.
I guess it must be a little frustrating how detached the consumer must be from the the products you have sourced but then every item in the world is manufactured by someone's son & has a story behind them. It takes blogs like this that create an association between the consumer and the story behind the products.

It definitely doesn't matter if you don't find what you are looking for if you can come home with travel photographs as beautiful and quirky as these. I empathise with the exasperation that must have washed over you after this experience. I've spent the last week fruitlessly house hunting, but for every place that we cross off the list we are one step closer to finding what we are looking for. That never say die spirit will serve you well in the end, and be even more satisfying when you do find the pieces that you are looking for. You've definitely adopted the right frame of mind for this endeavour. As the Rolling Stones once said "you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you get what you need"

Reading your blog reminded me of my time in Delhi where I too, spent a very long time in the markets looking for original and unique amulets. This was much to my partners disappointment as he stands waiting for hours on end. But the feeling when you find something so special and different really makes the wait worth while. I hope others can appreciate this too.
